Squad Golf Rules
Squad Golf™ – Frequently Asked Questions
What is Squad Golf™?
Squad Golf™ is a new team-based sport debuting in Mobile, Alabama. It features two teams of eight players competing simultaneously on a custom-designed field.
All 16 players are active at the same time, with up to four additional players per team serving as alternates or substitutes.
The playing field is:
360 feet long (same length as a football field)
90 feet wide
What is the objective of the game?
The objective is simple:
👉 Be the first team to score 32 points
How is a point scored?
Each side of the field is divided into four sections called “quads.”
Each quad contains a hole marked by a flag
Two players are assigned to each quad
Teams compete side-by-side across the field
How play works:
In Quad One, the first pair attempts to sink the ball
If they miss, their teammate in the same quad can continue play
Once completed, play moves to Quad Two, then Three, then Four
👉 The first team to complete the hole in Quad Four wins the point
Do players have to attempt the hole on the first putt?
No. Strategy is a key part of Squad Golf.
Teammates can work together and decide the best approach to complete each hole.
Is there a limit on consecutive attempts?
Yes.
👉 A player may not strike the ball more than three times in a row
How is the field structured?
Total size: 360 ft x 90 ft
Divided down the middle for two teams
Each side contains 4 quads
Each quad measures:
👉 90 ft long x 45 ft wide
Can players run?
No running is allowed.
👉 Fast walking is permitted
Are there fouls or penalties?
Yes.
Each quad and the entire field have boundary lines
If a ball goes out of bounds:
👉 Play resets to the start of that quad
Important:
The opposing team continues play uninterrupted
What happens if a player sinks the hole on the first putt?
Play immediately advances to the next quad.
👉 This gives that team a speed advantage over their opponent
What is a “Quad”?
A Quad occurs when all four lead players complete their holes on the first attempt.
Scoring:
Team earns 2 points instead of 1
Bonus Opportunity:
The Quad Four player may attempt a long putt from Quad One to Quad Four
👉 If successful:
Team earns 2 additional points
Total possible:
👉 Up to 4 points in a single sequence
